Metrology Lead Sara Pastor joins Spain’s top standardization bodies
We are proud to announce that Sara Pastor, Metrology Lead, has been accepted as a new member of UNE (Spanish Association for Standardization) within the CTN 82/GT 2 Surface Quality working group.
With an academic background in optics and photonics, Sara specializes in the development and application of advanced measurement technologies. She brings extensive experience from both metrology laboratories and a National Physical Laboratory (NPL), where she has contributed to the implementation, calibration, and verification of high-precision measurement systems. Her career also includes a strong research component in photonics, with a focus on the design and improvement of optical instruments and measurement methods.
This appointment recognizes Sara’s deep expertise in dimensional surface metrology, placing her among a highly select group of only three experts in Spain acknowledged at this level in the field.
Through her participation in UNE, Sara will also contribute to the international standardization landscape as part of ISO Technical Committee TC 213, Working Group WG 16, supporting the development and evolution of key standards that define how surface texture and dimensional measurements are applied worldwide.
As Sara highlights:
It is essential for the industry to engage in standardization processes, not only to bring real-world insights from the sector but also to stay ahead of future developments.
Metrology goes hand in hand with actively supporting the standards that ensure precision, reliability, and comparability across industries. Sara’s inclusion in both UNE and ISO reflects our ongoing commitment to scientific rigor and to helping drive the future of surface measurement at a global scale.
